Inspirational Spreads and Decks

In the last weeks several friends asked me: What are you doing with these cards? And what they have got to do with yoga?

The thought of using oracle cards for yoga purposes came regarding my Yogateacher training and thinking about my teaching style. I asked: why not to try to develop a style where also the pupils could participate on the yoga session? Also I wanted to get a more intuitive way to discover topics which could function as a topic for a yoga session.

So regarding these ideas, oracle cards and cards with asanas came into my mind. The pupils could e.g. draw a card with an asana and the group could have a short chat about this asana, the background and which effect on the body and mind the asana has.

For the Asanas and Mudras I am working with three decks:

  • Yogabox by Anna TrΓΆkes
  • Yoga Sequencing Deck by Mark Stephens
  • Mudras by Gertrud Hirschi

For the Chakras I am actually working with just one deck, but I am searching for additional ones.

  • Chakra Wisdom Oracle Cards by Tori Hartman

For the inspiration for a Yoga class topic, I found following oracles:

  • Sacred Traveler Oracle Cards by Denise Linn
  • Wisdom of the Oracle by Colette Baron-Reid
  • Moonology Oracle Cards by Yasmin Boland
  • Inner Compass Oracle by Heather Hoeps
  • The Soul’s Journey Lessons Cards by James van Praagh

In a next blog post I will try to cover the three spreads I am working on.

  • Yoga Inspiration Spread
  • Chakra Inspiration Spread
  • Yin & Yang Inspiration Spread

Yin & Yang Inspiration Spread dedicated to the New Moon in Libra

Today we will have a new moon in Libra. Libra is about harmony, equilibrium, so I chose to dedicate the Yin and Yang Spread to this moon.

Yang Side – Rootchakra

On the Yang Side we have a card resembling the first Chakra, the Rootchakra.

You are ready for a new level of self care e.g. looking more into what makes you happy in life. Therefore you need strength and endurance and have to think long-term. Keep going forward.

Yin Side – Heartchakra

On the Yin Side we have a card resembling Anahata / Heart Chakra.

It’s a transformational time, go with your intuition. Be authentic and surround yourself with the people you feel yourself at home with, then you will gain abundance.

Mudras:

  1. Mudra of Temperance, it can help you if you have problems with time pressure or digestion. Mediate and do the Mudra. For meditation purposes you can think about a box that is full and you empty this box.
  2. Sit down and do Flow Mudra, it’s anti-stress and will help you to let go everything of that stresses you. Breathe in and out and make a little break after breathing in. You can make this break longer and longer if you want.

Balance your Rootchakra and Anahata Chakra on this New Moon, examples:

  • For stimulating Heart Chakra you can do Trikonasa and the Warrior Pose.
  • For stimulating Root Chakra you can do Ardha navasana and Yoga Mudrasana.
