Yin & Yang Inspiration Spread with Meditation inspired by the Yogasutra by Patanjali

The topic of our Yin & Yang Inspiration Spread today is a Sutra from the Yogasutra by Patanjali.

Identification with the fluctuations of mind is stopped by practice and non-attachment.

Yogasutra by Patanjali, 1.12

The Yin Side is invited to think about thankfulness (Deutsch: Dankbarkeit).

Yin

The Yin Side can be thankful for what they have in their life and show their love and also receive love from others. They can fully rely on their intuition. They are struggling with seeing the people around them with a certain detachment, that doesn’t mean that you are not full of compassion with them.

Yang

The Yang side is invited to approach everything more playfully and to express themselves. Express their thoughts, emotions and not let them stop from being creative and approach things with a certain lightness and a new approach.

Mudras

As Mudras I chose today:

  • Yin: Trishula Mudra for the Third Eye Chakra
  • Yang: Garuda Mudra for the Throat Chakra

Meditation:

Sit down in a comfortable pose.

Relax your shoulders down.

Yin: Bend your pinky fingers inward, lay your thumbs over your pinky fingers, the other fingers are pointing straight out. Hold your hands away from your body.

Yang: Bring your left hand in front of your heart, your palm facing in. Bring the back of the right hand behind the left palm until your thumbs meet. Interlace your thumbs, the other fingers point outwards. Bring your hands to your throat Center.

Close your eyes.

Watch your breath and how your belly lifts up and down while you are breathing.

Focus on your breath.

Think about the following sentence:

Yin: Clarity fills all of my senses, leading me to unity with everything.

Yang: I embrace the freedom and openness of my pure expression.

Which emotions are arising?

Allow them to arise but then let them pass.

As Patanjali states in the Sutra:

Identification with the fluctuations of mind is stopped by practice and non-attachment.

Practice is our meditation practice. Non attachment is allowing our emotions, watching them and then let them pass.

Open your eyes slowly.

Yin & Yang Inspiration Spread with Meditation for the Root and Throat Chakra

As topics for our Yin & Yang Inspiration Spread today we got Truthfulness for the Yin and Acceptance for the Yang Side.

Yin Side

You can expect truthfulness (Deutsch: Wahrhaftigkeit) from yourself but not from others. The Yin side is invited to be authentic and truthful and to shape their lives according to their beliefs. To pursue one’s own ideas and projects with passion and creativity and to transform oneself.

Yang Side

On the Yang side, one had to realize that things are not as they seemed. The Yang side is invited to look at the circumstances, not to blame oneself and to accept the situation as it is.

For our Meditation Session I chose following Mudras and Mantras:

Mudras
  • Yang Side: Bhu Mudra for Grounding
  • Yin Side: Samputa Mudra for showing the authentic side

Yang Side: Sit down in a comfortable pose for a short meditation. Extend your index and middle finger for a V-shape, curl your pinky and ring finger inward and place them on your thumbs. Place your arms on height of your thighs. Close your eyes, breathe in and out deeply. Focus on your belly while breathing in and out. After a few cycles think about following sentence: Grounded to earth I recieve support and abundance. Which emotions are arising. Allow them to flow through you. Open your eyes again when you are ready.

Yin Side: Sit down in a comfortable pose for a short meditation. Hold your left hand cupped, your palm facing up. Bring your right hand cupped, palms facing downwards over your left hand. Bring your hands to your belly center. Close your eyes, breathe in and out deeply. Focus on your belly while breathing in and out. After a few cycles think about following sentence: I speak my truth clearly with integrity and compassion. Which emotions are arising. Allow them to flow through you. Open your eyes again when you are ready.

Namaste.

Yin & Yang Inspiration Spread with short meditation

The topic of our Yin & Yang Inspiration Spread today is to have faith in one’s dreams and true inner calling.

  • Have faith in your dreams
  • Select to choose (Wähle zu wählen)
  • These are the blessings that are touching me today

On the Yin side it is about having confidence in the dreams someone wants to pursue and to finally decide to go further on this path. It is also about allowing happiness and not to block oneself any longer with being satisfied with less.

Yang Side
  • It’s time to take action
  • I follow the path of calling with love (Ich folge mit Liebe meiner Berufung)
  • This is how I share the blessing of trust with those I need the most

On the Yang side it is about following one’s true calling and becoming active in this direction. It is about trusting that it is the right way and that there will be people on the way who are on one’s side.

Meditation

Today we will do a short meditation and Mudra for our Heart Chakra.

Sit down in a comfortable pose on a cushion, chair or blanket.

For example a tailor’s seat. When sitting on the chair, please bring both feet on the floor and do not cross your legs.
Close your eyes. Feel your feet on the floor.
Feel your bottom on the pillow, chair or blanket.
Feel your lower back, your middle and upper back.
Your shoulders. Your neck.
Your head.
Your chest, your stomach.

Breathe in and out deeply.
Now bring your hands to the height of your chest. The palms face the body.

Interlace your fingers from the right and left hand with the pinky fingers on the bottom. Extend your thumbs and index fingers upward.

Focus on your breath.

Think about this sentence: Unshakable confidence guides my journey forward.

Breathe in and out deeply.

When you are ready you can open your eyes.

Yin & Yang Inspiration Spread

As topics in our Yin & Yang Inspiration Spread we got being brave and opening ones heart today, as Chakras Third Eye and Heart Chakra.

Yin

On Yin Side it’s about opening our heart for communication and hearing to the wisdom of our inner truth. It’s about listening to the inner voice and intuition. But the Yin Side is also about awakeing passion and to rely on the inner strength. As godess we got Sita Devi, she is the spouse of Rama, and him we got as god for the Yang Side. So it’s also about recognizing your female and male energies and connecting them together. Sita Devi is the Goddess of agriculture, the goddess of earth. She is the one who sees the divine in the beauty of nature. Sita is purity, wisdom and faithfulness. Sita Devi is the one who is full of devotion, full of trust and full of heartfelt love. This is what the Yin Side is resembling. A passionate, faithful and wise female energy who is knowing her strength. For the Yin Side we got the Heart Chakra.

Yang

On the Yang Side it’s about letting love get into your life, even under extraordinary circumstances. Living his truth and getting over fears what others may think about ones actions or emotions. As god we got here Sri Rama, the partner of Sita Devi which we got for the Yin Side. Also the Yang Side is invited to embrace the female and male energies and balance them. Rama is a major deity of Hinduismn, in Rama-centric traditions of Hinduism, he is considered the Supreme Being. Rama is considered to be educated, beautiful and equipped with all the royal attributes. The Yang Side is invited to be brave and overcome their fears to live their real truth and love they have in their heart. For the Yang Side we got the Third Eye Chakra.

Experiences of my fifth Yoga Teacher training weekend – Pranayama, Teaching standing Asanas, Hatha Yoga Pradipika

Last weekend I had my fifth Yoga Teacher Training weekend. This was really a special one.

Topics were:

  • Pranayama
  • Mudras
  • Chakra Activation
  • Chanting Mantras
  • Hatha Yoga Pradipika
  • Teaching standing asanas
  • Didactics

The weekend started Friday in the evening with a yoga practice of round about 1,5 hours, my teacher introduced there Setu Bandha and Pranayama Alternate Nostril Breathing. After the Yoga Session we did a short intro into general yoga teaching techniques.

When the breath wanders the mind also is unsteady. But when the breath is calmed the mind too will be still, and the yogi achieves long life. Therefore, one should learn to control the breath.

Hatha Yoga Pradipika

On Saturday morning we started with a very intense yoga session of round about 2,5 hours. We started with Chanting Shakti Mantra and Alternate Nostril Breathing. Afterwards we did many sun salutations, standing and balancing asanas and my teacher introduced a Mudra called Vipareta Karani Mudra which is described in the Hatha Yoga Pradipika. The session ended with a long version of Body Scan. After breakfast we started with the Teaching and didactics part. After a general introduction into didactics each pupil got an asana to teach. Everyone had some time to prepare. I got Trikonasa, a very classic standing asana.

After lunch 7 of the 14 pupils teached the asana to the classmates and afterwards each one got feedback. I learned so much from teaching Trikonasa to my classmates but also from the teaching and feedback my classmates got for their asanas.

After a teabreak we did a introduction to the Hatha Yoga Pradipika. I really enjoyed reading it, when I compare it directly to Yogasutra by Patanjali I instantly understood the teachings and I really love the body and Chakra focused mindset. Patanjali is also a very inspirational source for me but there are some parts of it which I don’t agree with.

The day ended with some exercises on Chakra Activation and Chanting mantras.

On Sunday morning we did another intense 2,5h yoga session with Pranayama, Sun salutations, standing and balancing Asana and Vipareta Karani Mudra. My teacher also introduced the Asana Chaturanga which was a very hard one.

After breakfast the other 7 pupils teached their asana to the others and got feedback. Once again it was very valuable to see how my classmates were teaching and what feedback they got.

The day ended with a short theoretical session on the Hatha Yoga Pradipika and Chanting Shakti and Shiva Bhajans.

Namaste 🙏

Yin & Yang Inspiration Spread

Today as Chakras we got for the Yin & Yang Inspiration Sacral and Throat Chakra.

Yang

On the Yang Side it’s about having compassion for yourself. It seems that taking of a mask and shame for something is a topic that leads to a certain confusion and loneliness. It’s time for self love and to forgive for something from the past. Perhaps you feel nervous, spending time in nature and meditation could be helpful.

Yin

On Yin Side it’s about becoming aware of a topic that was in your unconsciousness until now. Facing these issues will lead to healing. Connect with a community of like minded people, you can be part of something bigger and a soul family. This will also bring joy to you.

Yoga Session

Today I chose these Mudras:

Mudra
  • Trimurta Mudra: Form a triangle by placing the tips of your index fingers and the tips of your thumbs together, with the palms of your hands showing downwards.
  • Kali Mudra: This Mudra is dedicated to the Goddess Kali and helps you to release obstacles and to live your true nature. The goddess Kali removes the ego and liberates the soul from the cycle of birth and death. Interlace your fingers and place your hands in front of your heart in a comfortable seating position. The right thumb is over the left thumb. Extend the index finger upward the Throat center.

Today I chose following asanas:

Asanas
  • Reclined Bound Angle Pose: This restorative asana is activating your Sacral and Rootchakra.
  • Bridge Pose: This backbend is stimulating your Crown, Third Eye, Throat and Solarplexuschakra.
  • Intense Side Strech Pose: This forward bend is stimulating five out of 7 chakras: Crown, Throat, Solarplexus, Sacral and Root Chakra. Do this forward bend to the left and the right leg.
  • Upward Facing Dog Pose: This asana is balancing your Sacral, Solarplexus, Heart and Throat Chakra.
  • Supported Shoulder Stand: This inversion is activating your Crown, Third Eye, Throat and Solarplexuschakra.

Yoga Inspiration Spread dedicated to the Full Moon in Virgo

On Monday we will have a Full Moon in Virgo.

Topic

The topic of our spread is a hidden gift which perhaps will come with a ending. First you will be sad but keep in mind that endings always include new beginnings. When the timing is right you will get a gift which you don’t expected. As chakras we got Root and Crown Chakra.

Early past

In the early past you had so many options to choose and struggled with deciding. You found out that the best decisions are made when you listen to your inner voice and what your heart is saying. You understand that staying in the comfort zone is no good option. You looked at your motives and wanted to better understand why you do the things you are doing and what you are really seeking for.

Future

You will have a deeper look at your connection with the whole and seek for harmony in your life. Trust your immediate impulses, hold on to the flow of life and try not to let influence you by the opinion of others. Believe in your dreams. It’s also a time to be fair to someone and listen but also speak your truth.

Unconscious

Every one of us has a shadow side. Accept and embrace your weaker side and do not be harsh to yourself. You seek for security and a stable basis. You want to feel at home in your body and with yourself.

Conscious

You are conscious that a successful phase is awaiting you and that your efforts bear fruit. It’s a dynamic and energetic time which demands you to balance your energies. You know that it is time to face the truth and live your life the way it truely fullfills you. Live your passion.

Yogasession

As Mudras I chose today:

Mudras
  • Prithivi Mudra: This is a very interesting mudra, it’s balancing your earth and fire elements in your body. It’s dedicated to the Godess of Earth, Prithivi. Sit down in a comfortable position, close your eyes, breathe and bring your ring finger & thumb together.
  • Dharma Chakra Mudra: This Mudra can be translated into Sanskrit original as “Wheel of Dharma”. This mudra is one of the most important of all Buddhist mudras. Sit down in a comfortable position and breath. Place both your hands opposite your chest, Maintain your right hand fairly higher than the left, unite the thumbs plus index fingers of every hand. The palm of your left hand faces your heart, the reverse of your right hand faces to your body. The left middle finger touches the place wherever the thumb with index finger of the right hand makes a closed circle. Close your eyes.
Asanas

As Asanas for our yoga session I chose:

  • Downward Facing Dog: This classic asana is activating your Crown, Third Eye, Throat, Heart and Solar Plexus Chakra.
  • Tree Pose: This balancing asana roots you, be strong but also flexible like a tree. This asana is activating your Third Eye, Sacral and Root Chakra.
  • Intense Side Strech Pose: This stretching forward bend is balancing your Crown, Throat, Solar Plexus, Sacral and Root Chakra.
  • Headstand: Upside … down. This intense inversion is activating your Crown, Third Eye and Throat Chakra. Do the Headstand at a wall or chose a headstand chair if you need support.
  • King Pigeon Pose: One of my favorites. This restorative but also intense asana is balancing your Solarplexus, Sacral and Root Chakra. Stay as long as you wish.
  • Corpse Pose: Last but not least we end this Yoga Session with Shavasana.

First Impressions of my Tantric Yoga Course

She walks in the twilight,

Her steps make no sound

She leaves no footprints

On the dew-covered ground.

Her hand gently beckons,

She whispers your name…

When you find her within you,

You are never the same.

Unknown

This week my Tantric Yoga Course started. Its twice a week and will due until the end of March.

The course is focused on activation of our 7 chakras, connecting with the body, feeling the energy and embrace Shakti, the divine feminine.

The lessons starts with chanting Shakti Mantra. After a short relaxation experience each chakra is activated with asanas, pranayama, mudra and chanting mantras and there is time to feel and connect with the energy of each chakra.

The session ends with Shavasana and chanting Om.

I really felt a good connection already to my Root and Third Eye Chakra. The connection to my Sacral and Heart Chakra also was there but less strong. Solarplexus, Throat and Crownchakra I didn’t feel much. Looking forward how this develops throughout the course.
