Yin & Yang Inspiration Spread with Root and Solarplexuschakra Meditation

Yin

For the Yin a new beginning is awaiting. The Yin is invited to open, receive and trust all the good things that are coming. Yes it’s true after a very hard phase now luck and kindness is unfolding.

Yang

The Yang is invited to take action and realize that one is able to manifest. One can believe that everything will work out well. The Yang can trust one’s inner voice and rely on the help and support of loved ones in this hard phase.

Meditation

As Mudras for our Meditation I chose today:

Yin Side: Abhaya Mudra, Root Chakra

Yang Side: Surya Mudra, Solarplexus Chakra

Sit down in a comfortable meditation position. It is important that you can sit comfortably for several minutes, so don’t force yourself into a position that is uncomfortable for you. Vajrasana or Sukhasana is a good seating position, but you can also meditate on a chair.
Now bring your shoulders back and rest your arms comfortably, for example on your thighs. Lower your chin. Breathe in and out. Form your hands into the according mudra:

Abhaya Mudra: Hold your right hand slightly cupped at shoulder height, your palm is facing outward. Your elbow can fall close to your waist.

Surya Mudra: Bend the ring finger of each hand and bring it to the thumbs. Cover the nail of the thumb with your ring finger. Extend the other fingers. Your hands rest on the thighs, your palms are facing upward. Relax your shoulders.

Close your eyes.

Breathe in and out and feel how your belly is rising up and down while you are breathing.

Maybe you can also feel your breath rising in and out of your nostrils.

Focus on the according mantra for our meditation session:

YIN: My courage and self-assurance is unwavering.

YANG: My inner light is vibrant, luminous and alive.

Be gentle with yourself, when other thoughts are coming up while meditating.

Just come back to the mantra.

Come back slowly to your presence in the room. Maybe you can hear sounds or smell certain scents.

Diary of a Vipassana Retreat – Day 5 + 6

Today I want to share with you the last two days of my Vipassana Retreat I did in May.

Day 5

In the morning meditation again feeling of dissolving, I no longer have arms. Gardening in the light rain after the morning session. I enjoy it until my hands get too cold. I take a warm shower before continuing with the meditation. The question of the I and individuality still bothers me. I am incredibly hungry and thirsty. In the meditation in the morning, besides the feeling of weightlessness and disappearing of body parts, a feeling of pure joy fulfills me, a deep contentment flows through me. I have the feeling of being breathed. After lunch I go again into the forest. It has been raining all morning and has now stopped. I think about my impressions. The pain in my back I perceive reduced during the mediation, it is as if it does not belong to me. Slowly I begin to understand what is meant by purusha, prakriti, citta vritti nirodah and om sat chit andanda. Is this what I felt as deep and pure inner contentment? In the afternoon session again feeling of floating, I have no arms anymore, again a feeling of deeper inner bliss flows through me. I feel a big smile on my face during the mediation. In the evening lecture I learn that what I experienced today is the beginning of the immersion level 2 of meditation.

Day 6
The last day of my mediation retreat begins. In the morning meditation I am very tired. I do not get into the meditation well at all. Breakfast is still in silence, but afterwards the noble silence is lifted. One really notices how everyone wants to talk to each other. After breakfast I pack my things and clear my room. Since I still have time, I sit down in the courtyard and meet my table neighbor who has accompanied me throughout the week, we take a walk together and talk for the first time. It is a very interesting experience to get to know another person in this way. We have a very good conversation with each other and find many things in common. Finally, the morning meditation takes place and Alexander gives us tips for our own meditation practice. He recommends to meditate 30 minutes a day and to set up a fixed place to meditate. Also to read scriptures and reflect on them. Also an annual retreat, max. 2 times is recommended. We conclude the retreat with a metta meditation and lunch together. Silence is lifted and there is lively conversation. After lunch, the exchange continues outside over coffee before departure. I travel back to Würzburg by cab to the train station with one of the participants. It feels totally strange to be exposed to such a large crowd and volume in the main station.
I try to withdraw during the train ride and arrive slowly. I am very glad that I have another week of vacation to get back into the daily routine.

This meditation retreat should change my view on my life permanently. A few months later I feel ready and strong enough to take my life in my hands and initiate the first changes. This is also the reason why I wrote less blog posts the last weeks. I am currently in a transformational process. The retreat has certainly contributed to the fact that I now see my life from a completely different perspective.

This was my last post in this blog series. I hope my diary entries and impressions can help others to decide for or against such a meditation retreat.

The Yin developed so much in their past and came into their inner strength. Now they also change much in their life, it could be a new job, relationship, project. They now have the strength even to end long-lasting topics in their life which didn’t fulfilled them anymore. But regardless the Yin still stays in their loving and graceful manner.

Yang Side

For the Yang Side now it is time to trust their inner voice and let things flow. Control and avoiding emotions were dominant in the past. They now realize that they have to slow down and let go. To give and to receive love in their lives. That they are worth of unconditional love and abundance. That they can fully trust on their intuition and don’t be afraid to live this side with authenticity.

Diary of a Vipassana Retreat – Day 4

Today I want to share with you the notes of Day 4 of my Meditation and Silence Retreat.

In the morning very tired, I take a short walk outside to wake up. In the meditation I quickly move out of my body, but I am very tired at the end. After breakfast I enjoy the gardening in the sun. Feeling that I no longer have arms comes very quickly in the next meditation sessions, soon the rest of my body dissolves. My eyes are like windows through which I look. The first two morning sessions go very well, in the last one before lunch I don’t get in at all. I am extremely tired. Lunch is super tasty and right after that I head out into the woods.

After a long walk, reading in the sun and coffee and cake, the next session begins at 3:45 pm. I float here in front of my body. The pain in my lower back is suddenly indifferent to me. I am breathed, I have the feeling that it is no longer me doing this but someone else. In the session right before dinner, I also feel very warm during meditation. In the evening meditation sessions I again have the experience of floating outside my body. In the evening there is a lecture about duality. Existential questions arise. What am I if not only this body? Very inspiring but also fundamental questions that I will ask me the next days.

Yin & Yang Inspiration Spread dedicated to the Fullmoon in Sagittarius (Supermoon)

Again a very intense Full Moon, this time in the sign of Sagittarius. And this Full Moon is also a super moon which means that the moon is nearer to earth than usual. The Full Moon represents completion. It is a time to celebrate and to reflect on progress made. The zodiac sign Sagittarius is a fire sign and stands for wanderlust, flexibility, freedom and thirst of knowledge.

Yin

The Yin Side is about fully embracing your feminine, nurturing side and welcome all the beautiful energies that are coming into your life. Its like a rebirth, a new start, a cycle is completed and one is now seeing the real truth behind all. Illusions can now be left behind, one has grown from the efforts in the past and became stronger. The Yin Side is resembled with the Sacral Chakra.

Yang

On the yang side, it is about finding peace and concluding something in harmony. Peace can be found within, in the heart. It is important here to come into peace with others but also with oneself. Then harmony can unfold and a new start can be made. The heart is of central importance. The connection with the heart chakra, the loving kindness with oneself and others.

Diary of A Vipassana Retreat – Day 3

This is the third part of my series on my vipassana retreat in early may. Today i am writing down my notes from day three.

The alarm clock rings at 05:45, I am very tired, because I was already awake at shortly before 5 am. The morning meditation is therefore difficult for me at first. I have done several rounds walking outside in the courtyard beforehand. Towards the end of the one hour mediation again the feeling that arms and legs do not belong to me. I float at the level of my head. Feeling of absolute silence. In the gardening after breakfast I weed for 45min. At 09:15 the meditation continues. Here again quite quickly the feeling that arms and legs do not belong to me. Also the breathing does not belong to me, it just happens. I have the feeling to float in the air and my consciousness now encompasses the whole meditation room. After the short break after the walking mediation, I immediately go to my room to write my experiences down. Overall, I am very hungry and thirsty for just sitting and meditating.

In the next meditation session then the feeling that a sphere spreads around me. Shortly before the lunch break I have pain in the lumbar spine, I am tired and long for the lunch break. After the lunch break I have a chat with the meditation teacher. I do some yoga during the lunch break, take a walk in the forest, take a long shower and drink 2 cups of coffee with a piece of rhubarb pie. I am refreshed again. In the conversation the meditation teacher tells me that I reached the first level of immersion, jhana.

In the afternoon we do a new mediation, Vedanupassana. We go step by step through the body. The meditation lasts 50min. My arms and legs are no longer part of my body, the breathing pause is very long. Absolute silence. It is as if I float out of my body. Partly I only feel my eyes, the rest of my body is no longer there. I am very tired and exhausted after dinner. I would prefer to stay in my room and sleep, but I don’t want to miss the lecture.

The meditation teacher gives a lecture on the ego and the influence on meditation. I feel caught. He describes how transcendental experiences like from the first stage / jhana can affect the ego and you want to force it and that does not work. In the meditation after the lecture I was again very absorbed, the body disappeared I virtually floated above me, the breath was very still and calm. I am very tired after this eventful day.
