Yin Yogateacher Training: Module on Philosophy

The soul is touched by the vibrations of truth.


This week I had my first module of my new Yin Yogateacher Training I am doing at Mindful Yin & Yoga, by Helga Baumgartner. The first module was on the topic of Philosophy.

The topics were the Vedas, Bhagavad Gita, Chanting Mantras and learning Sanskritam.

The teachers were Ammaji and Swamiji, their full names are Swamini Pramananda and Swami Siddhabodhananda. The two are also the teachers of Helga. Both are based in South India and established the Purna Vidya Foundation. They teach in online courses and in their Ashram the Vedas and Sanskritam.

The teaching was done online via Zoom. From Monday to Saturday we had classes from 08:30 to 16:30.

We had two Sessions with Ammaji on Philosophy and two sessions with Swamiji on Sanskritam and Mantra Chanting. Between those we had a guided meditation with Ammaji, the day ended with a Yin Yoga class with Helga.

I can’t tell in words how beautiful this week has been and how grateful I am to have been part of this class.

Ammajis teachings touched my soul deeply. When I listened to her teachings I knew that I am right on my spiritual path and everything that happened in my life recently makes sense. She invited us to study Bhagavad Gita further, which I now will do together with other classmates online.

The teaching of Sanskritam by Swamiji was so inspiring. This language fascinates me. Even that I don’t understand the words of the mantras I can feel that I understand them with my heart. When I chant sanskrit I am feeling so peaceful and can feel the inner truth that lies within me.

Swamiji and Ammaji invited us also to visit them in their Ashram. I really hope that I am soon able to travel to India and visit them.



Yoga Inspiration Spread

Our Yoga Inspiration Spread today is about setting new priorities and leaving old stagnant energies behind. Changes are coming and adjustments for this are now the next step. Self-confident, you can trust your inner strength and listen to your inner voice. It is also time for gratitude, generosity and kindness with others.


The recent past was focused on preparing for these new energies and life stage. For this it required a retreat and regeneration to gain strength.

Recent Past

In the future, it will be about uncovering something, finding out the real reason. This is in connection with a person who is connected to you and a fateful task is connected with it.


It is still unconscious that deep inside one already has access to this knowledge. In the regeneration and retreat phase, one has gradually created the basis for this.


It is aware that soon something wonderful can arise. The key to true inner peace and fulfillment will manifest.

Yoga Inspiration Spread dedicated to the full Moon in Libra

Today we have a Full Moon in Libra. Libra is resembling balance, partnership and beauty. The Full Moon represents completion. It is a time to celebrate and to reflect on progress made. So this Full Moon is about reflecting on our boundaries and needs and what progress we did on them, especially in partnerships.

Recent past

In the recent past it was about synchronicity and to bring all dimensions into balance. Joy, lightness and warmth unfolded into your life.


In the future it is about healing, to taste from the central source of consciousness. One way to tap into this is to give your creativity space.


It’s unconscious that a trauma in a matter of love or relationsship made you stronger. Your heart can heal and open again, but do not give it away.


It’s conscious that you seek for peace within, you can feel that peace is the truth of your inner core. In silence, listen to your inner voice, it will guide you.

Yoga Session

For our Yoga Practice we will focus on following aspect:

Each asana is an energy mandala that unfolds like a flower within you. It is not about to achieve a perfect shape, instead allow a pulsating energy to emerge within you. Embody this idea by blossoming into the postures. Start e.g. in half moon with bent legs and slowly expand. Notice how the posture slowly arises through you.

Inspirational Mantra

Sat Nam

Truth is my essence.

Sat Nam is a bija mantra – a one-syllable sound. Sat Nam is about expressing your true self, not only for yourself but also for others.

Sat Nam is one of the commonly used mantras in Kundalini Yoga. But Sat Nam is a universal mantra that can be used by everyone e.g. in a meditation session. Imagine the sound of Sat Nam flowing from your base of your spine up to your head and flowing through your seven chakras.

Yin & Yang Inspiration Spread with Meditation for the Root and Throat Chakra

As topics for our Yin & Yang Inspiration Spread today we got Truthfulness for the Yin and Acceptance for the Yang Side.

Yin Side

You can expect truthfulness (Deutsch: Wahrhaftigkeit) from yourself but not from others. The Yin side is invited to be authentic and truthful and to shape their lives according to their beliefs. To pursue one’s own ideas and projects with passion and creativity and to transform oneself.

Yang Side

On the Yang side, one had to realize that things are not as they seemed. The Yang side is invited to look at the circumstances, not to blame oneself and to accept the situation as it is.

For our Meditation Session I chose following Mudras and Mantras:

  • Yang Side: Bhu Mudra for Grounding
  • Yin Side: Samputa Mudra for showing the authentic side

Yang Side: Sit down in a comfortable pose for a short meditation. Extend your index and middle finger for a V-shape, curl your pinky and ring finger inward and place them on your thumbs. Place your arms on height of your thighs. Close your eyes, breathe in and out deeply. Focus on your belly while breathing in and out. After a few cycles think about following sentence: Grounded to earth I recieve support and abundance. Which emotions are arising. Allow them to flow through you. Open your eyes again when you are ready.

Yin Side: Sit down in a comfortable pose for a short meditation. Hold your left hand cupped, your palm facing up. Bring your right hand cupped, palms facing downwards over your left hand. Bring your hands to your belly center. Close your eyes, breathe in and out deeply. Focus on your belly while breathing in and out. After a few cycles think about following sentence: I speak my truth clearly with integrity and compassion. Which emotions are arising. Allow them to flow through you. Open your eyes again when you are ready.

Yoga Inspiration Spread dedicated to the Full Moon in Gemini

We soon will have a Full Moon in Gemini and also a partial Full Moon Eclipse. This year we had 6 eclipses, which is very rare. Eclipses are important cosmic events which signal big endings and beginnings. Eclipses are therefore a time to meditate and to rest. Maybe you have intense dreams or feel chaotic, agitated, exited.

The Full Moon will be in Gemini which can be a time of fresh ideas, insights in communication matters and fresh information.

Early past

For the early past we got Freedom (German: Freiheit) and being in accordance with our surroundings (German: Einklang). You realized that you have the power and free will to be the creator of your own happiness and showing this to the outside.


For the future we got Doubts (German: Zweifel) and weighing up (German: Abwägen). You are invited to make space for new and fresh ideas and free youself from the need to know everything.


For the unconscious we got Success (German: Erfolg) and Peace (German: Frieden). You are invited to realize that to love is the highest of all goals and you can find peace in your heart.


For the consciousness we got Denial (German: Leugnen) and Expression (German: Ausdruck). You are invited to stand by your fear but put conscious insight in its place and don’t be afraid to express your emotions to the outside.

Yin & Yang Inspiration Spread with Meditation for the Root and Throat Chakra

The topic of our Yin & Yang Inspiration Spread today is the Root and Throat Chakra.

In experience,
the one substance,
which is overflowing full
like the world ocean,
without change,
without form,
without distinction,
how could one here
determine the difference?


As Mudra for the Yin Side I chose Samputa Mudra, the Inner Truth.

As Mudra for the Yang Side I chose Bhu Mudra, for Grounding.


For the Yin Side it is about communication and speaking their inner truth. The Divine Feminine is invited to express openly. They developed very much and now can oversee the situation from a broad perspective.


The Yang side is torn and does not yet trust its new skills. They feel that they have evolved and joy and new opportunities are coming into their lives, they are still strong in their rational thinking and are torn about what to do first. They are invited to rely on their abilities.


We do a short meditation today with focus on our breath while doing the specific Mudra.

Sit down in a comfortable pose.

For Samputa Mudra: Hold your left hand cupped facing upward, bring your right hand palm facing down, cupped over your left. Your fingers of the right hand rest over the left thumb. Bring your hands into the belly center.

For Bhu Mudra:

Extend Index and middle finger downward with both hands. Curl in your pinky and ring finger toward your palm and place your thumb lightly on the fingertips of them. Extend your arms and bring them on top of your thighs or into the ground.

Close your eyes.

Breathe in and out deeply.

Watch your belly while breathing in and out.

Focus on following sentences while meditating:

Samputa Mudra: I speak my truth clearly with integrity and compassion.

Bhu Mudra: Grounded to earth, I receive support and abundance.

The topic of our Yin & Yang Inspiration Spread today is to have faith in one’s dreams and true inner calling.

On the Yin side it is about having confidence in the dreams someone wants to pursue and to finally decide to go further on this path. It is also about allowing happiness and not to block oneself any longer with being satisfied with less.

Yang Side
  • It’s time to take action
  • I follow the path of calling with love (Ich folge mit Liebe meiner Berufung)
  • This is how I share the blessing of trust with those I need the most

On the Yang side it is about following one’s true calling and becoming active in this direction. It is about trusting that it is the right way and that there will be people on the way who are on one’s side.


Today we will do a short meditation and Mudra for our Heart Chakra.

Sit down in a comfortable pose on a cushion, chair or blanket.

For example a tailor’s seat. When sitting on the chair, please bring both feet on the floor and do not cross your legs.
Close your eyes. Feel your feet on the floor.
Feel your bottom on the pillow, chair or blanket.
Feel your lower back, your middle and upper back.
Your shoulders. Your neck.
Your head.
Your chest, your stomach.

Breathe in and out deeply.
Now bring your hands to the height of your chest. The palms face the body.

Interlace your fingers from the right and left hand with the pinky fingers on the bottom. Extend your thumbs and index fingers upward.

Focus on your breath.

Think about this sentence: Unshakable confidence guides my journey forward.

Breathe in and out deeply.

When you are ready you can open your eyes.
